Here is a snippet of my day last Friday. I and several other SJSU artists were featured in the 17th annual student showcase at the de Young Museum in San Francisco! Amazing! I went a bit early and stopped by some galleries and saw the work of John Zurier in the Gallery Paule Anglim. His paintings have such a calm soothing aura about them with his almost monochomatic color palette and the abstract nature of his work. The subtle crumple or wrinkle within the paper he uses and handles is also a lovely surprise.
When we arrived at the de Young, we had VIP tickets to see the Girl with a Pearl Earring: Dutch Paintings from the Mauritshuis and Rembrandt’s Century! I wish I could have taken photographs of all those etchings and paintings, but then I would be in there for hours…
Anyways, our very own Yvonne Escalante’s “Kernal of Truth” corn bullets took home second place which is so great!

Overall I’m super grateful to have been a part of such a showcase and it was great to meet fellow artists working in the Bay Area!
